To protect the
surroundings of the areas to be painted, drops cloths or
plastic is used to cover furniture, carpeting, tile, and
wood flooring. Walkways, driveways, decking, steps, and
landscaping are covered during an exterior project.
Properly preparing the surface to be painted or stained
is most critical for an excellent finished product.
Surface prep includes but is not limited to sanding,
scraping, caulking, puttying, recessing nail heads, and
priming. The prep work often is the most tedious part of
a project. It will result, however, in a superior
finish. |
